My Mission

I got my mission call to the Russia Samara Mission after a year at BYU-Provo. I reported on my 19th birthday.

Having a Taiwanese mother and having studied Mandarin Chinese for 4 years, we all thought I would go somewhere Mandarin speaking. Russia was never on my map before this.

I thought Canada would be a cold mission. Jokes on me. Russia is wayyyy North. Keep in mind, I'm from Southern California. Born and Raised.

Believe it or not, this was almost half of the missionaries in our mission. Despite the small numbers and vast geography, we all stayed pretty close!

Overall, I LOVE my mission. Man, it was so hard. We never wore tags and proselyting became illegal in Russia, but we helped in any way we could. It's about the people. I love them. God loves them. And us.

  1. Russia would be an incredibly hard mission! I'm so glad that you were able to have a good experience there! That seems like a small but rewarding mission :)

  2. My brother served in Russia. I have a lot of respect for Russian missionaries. Especially with not being able to wear name tags now
